Spinach smoothies are an excellent introduction to Green Smoothies. Spinach has a subtle taste and isn’t as ‘in your face’ as kale for instance. The addition of avocado gives this recipe a wonderfully smooth texture.

Recipe:

0.7 lb spinach

3-4 ripe bananas

1/2 c soaked almonds

1/2 – 3/4 c raisins or medjool dates, optional

1/2 avocado

2 trays of ice cubes or 3 c water

2 Tbs raw cacao, 1/4 tsp vanilla or 3/4 c berries

Blend until smooth. Makes plenty for 2.
